Minden - Pioneer Village: The largest private collection of Americana, the complex comprises 28 buildings on 20 acres housing over 50,000 items, restored to operating order. There are 12 historic buildings around the the circular "green", a frontier fort, a Pony Express Station, an iron horse and a house made of sod. There is also an original art collection including Currier & Ives, Jackson and Rogers statues. A campground attached to the complex. We thought it was an interesting stop, Dean especially liked it because nothing was restored to "new" condition. Minden is in the Southern part of the state on H-6, just a short drop down from I-80.

Karney - Great River Road Archway Monument: An interactive adventure that pays tribute to the pioneers who passed through Nebraska on their way West. You will experience the Pony Express riders coming into a distant outpost, a buffalo Stampede, the words and faces of those that lived and died on the route, the building of the railroad, and the creation of the first transcontinental road (The Lincoln Highway). The monument is a bridge that goes over I-80, just outside of Karney. The staff is dressed in period clothing and there is a restaurant and gift shop. This is a stop not to miss as you travel through Nebraska.
